The litter tray

Neighbor's cat camping at my place day and night

Hi all,

last week I moved into the upper floor of a converted terrace house.

The very same night a cat showed up at the kitchen window (it overlooks an extension). She is well-fed, well-groomed and wears a collar with one of those chips for electronic cat flaps. She clearly belongs to someone who lives around here.

She has been showing up every day and every night since then and she spends an ridiculous amount of time at my place. I never feed her so I assume she goes back home for food, but otherwise as long as I am home she is at my place. Every time I go back home she is at the window waiting for me, even when it rains!!

She also sleeps with me on my bed. When I have to kick her out (because I need to leave to go to work for example) she tries to hide so I can't catch her.

Please note that I leave the kitchen window open for the whole time she is at my place so she is free to leave anytime, she just does not want to! She acts like this was her place.

Today after coming home and finding her waiting for me at the window completely drenched in rain I am starting to worry.

Is this normal? Where are her owners? Why does she want to spend so much time at my place? What should I do? Don't get me wrong, I love having her around but I want to make sure this situation is ok!

Please help!!!

If there is a number on her coller call it! Check she's not lost please. If no number take to a local vet and get her checked for microchip.
She could be lost or her owner could be dead for all you know. Just check she is ok before you assume she is a house hopping cat and she could well be btw!

if shes friendly put a paper collar on her with your phone number and a message asking her owner to ring you to let you know shes owned, ans also take her to a vets who will check for free who she is chipped to

There is no number I can call. I suspect she belongs to the terrace house next to mine as I saw a cat flap there (overlooking an extension roof) and she also usually chills on that extension roof right in front of the cat flap.

I also assume she is not lost as sometimes she just leaves out of the blue (I think to go get food) and then comes back after a while.

I might be wrong though...
