The litter tray

Cat on cage rest after pelvic surgery

Hello, hoping for advice and other people's experience of this! Found my cat injured this week (most likely hit by a car) and after a rush to the vets she was diagnosed with a broken pelvis and a spinal injury. She had an operation which was successful and is now at home on cage rest and limping about between her bed and the litter tray. She's been out for quiet time on our laps. Has anyone experienced this? She did a wee yesterday and today but isn't eating very much (has never been a huge eater), is that normal? She's going for a check up on Tues and they said to bring her in Monday if she hadn't eaten or gone for a wee - a bit of both but I'm on high alert for if anything is wrong!

Update in case this is useful for anyone - cage rest going well, I'm off work this week so can spend lots of cuddle time with her. Unfortunately our other cat doesn't seem to recognise her or is upset by the way she looks so has periodically hissed at her, but she seems unfazed. Hopefully normality will resume soon.

Could it be that she smells different? My cats always smell quite strongly of 'hospital' when they've come home. They always have a good sniff of each other then ignore them as per usual!

I'm hoping that's it - have washed all the vet towels etc and sprayed feliway about to try and settle them again. It's heart breaking because the ill one sits in her cage howling for the other one, who is totally bemused! I'm glad yours get over it, just a little worried it's been a few days!
