Need advice about loose poo in kitten

I have 2 nine week old kittens (brothers) that we got 1 weeks ago. Was told they both took dry and wet cat food but when we got home one will only eat wet food. Was told they were having whiskas kitten food and go cat dry kitten food.

One is larger than the other and he eats well and is putting on weight fine. The other is smaller and is the one that only takes wet food but he is having very soft poo that then gets on his feet as he is not good at covering it with litter and stands in it or it sticks to his legs as he is quite fluffy. I then have to clean him up so he doesn't leave poopy footprints everywhere

He is running about and alert and had his first worming stuff last week and his first injections. Spoke to the vet and they advised to give Pro-Kolin+ twice a day to see if it helps firm them up. Only started that yesterday and no change as yet.

Anything else I can do or is there a better wet food I could give as I don't know how good whiskas kitten food is?

It's got cereal in it, it affects mine quite badly.

You could try high quality pouches. Not necessarily kitten just loaded with protein or a couple of days on chicken breast.

Butchers Classic (cans) - can be bought from Tesco or Sainsburys.

Animonda Carny also good, and can be bought online from Zooplus.

Cereal/grain free wet food Applaws and Orijen are good.

A friend just came home from holiday, his mum had bought some Go-Cat instead of their usual Applaws which had run out. They both had runny bums. I'm not sure how that stuff's still sold. It also causes kidney problems, UTIs and blocked pee-pipes, which can be fatal. Really, do chuck out the Go-Cat. Similar to feeding kids Mcdonalds at every meal.

I've had problems finding Butchers Classic, (not to be confused with Butchers Choice - that's for dogs) In local supermarkets, but if you order your groceries online, you can buy it in packs of 6, and no more expensive than Whiskas. Possibly much cheaper in fact. And 9 week old kittens will easily demolish a can between them a day - It's not unusual for them to eat a LOT more than an adult neutered cat. But little and often at that age, 5 or 6 small meals a day, (tiny tummies) Add a little warm boiled water to the wet food to ensure they're properly hydrated.

Is butchers classic ok for a kitten? It's not 4% meat content but 4% of the particular flavour e.g. In the tuna one there is 4% tuna but other animal/fish derivatives to make up the majority. The wee one does seem to eat but don't know if the bigger one is eating more than his fair share (although they come and go to the dishes and don't gobble it all up at once)

The wee one won't touch dry food and when I had just that to start with he just didn't eat

TCN - who works for a cat charity - on this board feeds her cats Butchers, and they seem to thrive. Def better than feeding Whiskas, then them shitting it all out.

Animonda Carny do a wet kitten food, that comes in smaller 200g tins. As I poiinted out, this can be obtained from Zooplus.

I have a very similar situation but with a pair of sisters. The shorthair is growing well but the short haired one is still little and isn't keeping as clean as her sister and has much runnier poo. I'm going to buy new kitten food tomorrow to see if that helps her.

Yay, we had a normal looking poo this morning so didn't need to rinse him under the tap again. That pro-kolin stuff seems to have helped. Better stick with the existing food for the time being and see if it stays normal
