The litter tray

Hadn't realised I needed to register microchip - now what?

JettyCat went missing a week ago. He's microchipped so when we had no news we held onto a bit of hope (last cat got hit by a car and we found out very quickly after the cat was scanned due to his chip)

Only, I hadn't realised I needed to register this chip Sad

Vet hadn't told me I needed to send paperwork off and previous vets have done it on my behalf (see previous cat!!!) My own fault I'm sure.

So, for the last week, someone could have scanned his chip and found..... What? Does anyone know??

When I registered it I had to enter his chip number and a vet code. Would someone scanning his (unregistered) chip have been given the vet code? That way they could contact the vet (who we told soon after he disappeared), and I hold some hope that we may have found out.

So cross with myself.... Sad

It's Anibase if that makes any difference?

Anibase will know which vet implanted it as they have vet codes on, so I guess they would contact those vets for info. Have you contacted them?

You don't need to send off paperwork, you can register a new chip online instantly.

Thanks very much, yes. I've registered him online now, but there was 7 days where he was at large, but unregistered. Gutted.

Thanks for the info that Anibase would be able to find the vet... That's what I was hoping as our vet was told very soon after he went missing and I'm sure would have put 2 + 2 together and made 4 as they know us very well.
