The litter tray

licking plastic

LandingCat has a thing about polythene and plastic - plastic bags in particular but any kind of packaging he can get his chops round. Normally we manage to keep it all out of his way - after an incident many years ago when he found a plastic bag, contrived to get the handle round his neck and tore round the house terrified with the rustly, noisy bag 'following' him - so the wrapping round multipacks of water bottles, etc, gets binned as soon as the shopping is unpacked. But at this time of year there's just more plastic about and despite our best efforts we keep hearing the revolting licking sounds and have to track him down to take it away.

Does anyone else's have a thing for plastic bags? Any ideas why? A friend's cat licks woollen things - the fluffier the better - but not plastic.

My two do this & it drives me NUTS. The noise is hideous & twice now black!cat has convinced my brother he's about to choke to death because he's chomped off a great big of plastic & then hacked it back up...

I've heard they can like it because the sound is reminiscent of mouse bones crunching & also because there's a [non-toxic] chemical they find particularly delicious in the bags... Yummy Hmm

Mine likes licking the blinds! We are moving house tomorrow and I don't know how to tell him that there are no blinds in our new house Grin
