Woke up this morning, drew the blinds to see our lovely Mr lover lover ginger kitty cat lying motionless on the lawn. Ran down to him and he was obviously sleeping never to wake up again. Not a clue why, no injuries looked totally sudden and he was only 4.5yrs. I'm heartbroken (he was my favourite of my two due to how loving he was, my girl cat is a bit of a mardy bum).
Called our emergency vets who were lovely and were in the surgery stitching up some poor pussy cat. So took him in and they checked him out, absolutely no sign of why or how. No feel of internal problems, gums still pink (not blue if been sudden heart prob), no scuffed claws/paws, no obv sign of distress, no poison kills immediately with no sign of illness / frothing/ vomit. No injuries.
So sad but decided not to have him cut up and investigated to find the reason why. It won't bring him back and often can be inconclusive anyway.
Not sure my girl cat knows he's not around anymore. Hubby says she'll probably like it - She did tolerate him well and only hissed at him when her tried to sniff her bum, or she's having love and then he tried to barge in on her fuss time. Like why do you always have to try and take over.
I do wonder if she'd be happier alone (after 4.5yrs of living with another cat) or in time should I get another (older - not kitten to annoy her) for her company.
Miss my Mr loving pussy cat!! So sad.
