Cleaning the floor

What products do you aye to clean the floor. Harry was sick a couple of days ago and I cleared it up with kitchen towel and wiped the floor with a wet cloth. I wanted to use a disinfectant but I'm scared to do so as a friend of mine nearly lost her cat after he was poisoned by the Dettol she used to clean the floor.

Thanks in advance for your help. If I don't come back on this thread for a while it's because I'm going away tomorrow and I'm not convinced I'll have great reception. At least I won't have to worry about cleaning the floor for a week!

I don't use disinfectant anywhere, I don't see a need for it. It's all heavily marketed to prey on people's fear of being dirty & big brands like dettoll are still tested on animals which I find abhorrent.

We use multipurpose cleaner for everything, Asda, Aldi, the Co-Op, M&S, Tescos, Astonish & Ecover are not tested on animals for their own brand products.

Steam mops are great

Thanks all. I think I'll use washing up liquid next time. We've got laminate flooring so I don't think we can use a steam mop unfortunately.
