Cat seems to be hiding under the bed - should I be worried?

Hello

I feel a bit daft writing this, but my lovely 3 year old cat has been hiding under the bed on and off for the last couple of days. She is very sociable and will come down when people are over usually but I have never caught her under the bed for hours at a time before.

Is this something I should be worried about or is it part of being a cat. We have had her for over 2 years and she seems happy, but normally would be asleep on a bed or on a hot piece of carpet rather than in the dark under a bed. My DD2 (age 7) said she did a wee in DD's bedroom this morning but she is inclined to elaborate so I don't know if I believe her. Cat has a flap and goes outside always.

Yes, cats hide when under the weather.

My cat hid when he'd been bitten and felt ill.

Best to give cat a good stroke and see if she yelps at any area bring touched.

It sounds as if something is up with her - but it may be minor and she'll get over it. I'd be getting her out at teatime for a look-see if she doesn't come out of her own accord.

How does she get on with the DC by the way? (I'm wondering whether there's any possibility that on of them could have been punishing her for some cat-type mischief and she's now hiding from trouble?)

Oh and does she have a tray to use if there's something wrong outside eg a new mean tom who's frightening her? That might be a good idea.

Thank you so much. She has been down and eaten well so perhaps she is ok. I haven't had her on my lap for a check over yet but will do so this evening.

We do have a nasty tom next door but she is used to him, though they do fight.

I will report back once I've had a good stroke.

When my cat got bitten he had a problem around his ear. It resolved itself, but he was laying low for a good few days.

Have now had a good stroke and she isn't wincing at all so perhaps she is just feeling a bit solitary. The children love her bit do maul her so perhaps she just needed to be alone for a bit.
