At least you found it. What about the ones he's stuffed in out of the way places?

Yep. A cat I once had left me a nice live one and manage to leave the room shutting the door behind him. Woke up with it sitting on my staring into my face

Actually, if he's killing rats on a nightly basis, I'd be doing some gentle local investigation re drains, new building works nearby etc. Having that many rats around is not good news - especially because you can't really put down poison in case he decides he's hungry one night.

He's never ever brought in a rat before, only ever tiny mice. Scared the whatsit out of me when i found it. Had a look at it, and it didnt seem to have any marks on it what so ever, so i can only think maybe he found it dead and bought it in? Lazy cat. We live very close to a river, and do have water rats around from time to time, i think people put poison out for them.

At least it is whole. Monday there was the decapitated head, the consumed and then vomited back front half of the body and then the back half of the body.
It had got cold all the rats are on the move out of fields and hedgerows to find somewhere warmer. I have had five so far this week.

What would worry me, Lone, is where the cat just beat up the rat - as they do with prey - and left it still living. In your house!
