Talk me out of getting another cat!

We adopted a little cat last February. She is lovely and very gentle. She had kittens but must have been very young and probably not even a year old when we got her.
We all love her to bits, but DH and I would like another cat.
What slightly worries me is that when other cats comes into the garden she sees them off, even the big toms, so I am not sure if she will take to another cat that easily.

She has had kittens and looks like she was a good mum do you think she will take to a kitten?

What I am trying to say is we have a lovely situation at the moment, don't want to spoil what we've got, but would love another cat.

If there is a good cat rescue near you, they might be able to select a cat for you to try with her. If it doesn't work out, good rescues take the cat back.

Our eldest cat is like yours. She thinks she owns the street and will go for dogs aswell as other cats.

However, we did decide to get a kitten. I picked the one that looked fiesty, thinking that then she could stick up for herself.

They do fight, and the older cat gets quickly fed up of the younger one, but I just chuck one out if it goes on for two long. I think once the kitten is a bit older it will settle down a bit.

Thinking back, i would have been better to get two kittens when i got ours, because then I think she would have hassled the older cat less.

Get two Grin
