How can I make the cat flap less noisy?

My 15yo mog seems to go out around 5am every morning and WAKE US ALL UP! Even 4yo DS who has just started school and is otherwise a brilliant sleeper.

It's very annoying and I've tried damping down the noise with some blu-tak around the edge of the door that slams shut but it's not really working. It's a plastic Staywell flap. Any other ideas please?

You can get ones off amazon with a draught proofing, it makes it quieter. I think its a cat mate one, I just googled "draught proof catflap" and it came up.

My cat wants to go out at 5 too.

Ooo brilliant! That might stop DH moaning about the kitchen being cold too, thank you!! Do they all fit a standard size hole do you know?

I don't know, I never got around to ordering it because the Karen millen sale started and I got distracted.

But the cats just chucked up all over our duvet so I think karmas got me.

It's not the flap that wakes me up at 5am - it's the cat coming back in and meowing at the top of his lungs
