FABCat is 17 and I took her for a check up yesterday. Our usual vet wasn't there so we saw another one and she had concerns due to FABCat's arthritis and leaking of urine. I opted to wait until our normal vet is back in 2 weeks who has seen FABCat for months and knows her well. We can't treat her arthritis without knowing what her kidneys are doing (she has kidney failure) but she was saying about if she was in pain she would hide away and groom excessively. Are there any other signs?

When our cats in pain he looks miserable, really suicidal life isn't worth living sad and scared and vulnerable.

You just know when their in pain, you'll know when the time comes

Thank you. Any time would be a bad time but right now would be terrible as DS2 is really not happy at the moment and will be beyond heartbroken when she goes.

Yes they do hide a lot and also refuse food when in pain. And they don't want to do anything except lie about in their chosen hiding place.

Could you give FABcat something like cod liver oil or evening primrose oil to help her joints in the meantime? You can get veterinary cod liver oil from pet shops. I was told by my vet to put it on the food of my old cat.

Oh crap. She has been refusing some food and then will eat again but she is very fussy and has got fussier over the months. I will get her some EPO as soon as I can.

www.spotcatpain.co.uk/
Has info on pain in cats. Painkillers are not contraindicated in kidney disease in all cases if the cat is sore.
