Price of a miniature schnauzer

I know there has been inflation for puppy prices, but how much would a miniature schnauzer normally cost? On Pets4homes they all appear to be between £2k and £3k.

We paid £950 three years ago. Really lovely breeder and everything done (jabs, eye tests etc)

It was expensive at the time compared to other breeders and so I would say 2/3k is price heavy.

However, I understand due to lockdown the cost of dogs has risen considerably due to demand.

Have you considered re homing one? They are a lovely breed but they don't half bark !

I paid £1,200 nearly 2 years ago with 2 lots of jabs and eye test.

You can train them not to bark.

The world and their mother want mini shnauzers at the moment, everyone we talk to recommends them as family dogs! I don't think you'd find that breed anywhere except for sale (I hate the dog situation now, so many 'unsuitable' dogs waiting for homes, and then the over pricing etc going on with other dogs)

It's a breeders market whatever they're selling currently! So many people wfh and probably looking to continue too. The number of people/families that can now manage a dog without walkers/doggy day care is unreal. Personally I'd give it 6-12mths for prices to potentially start to drop again. I'd also look to lodge interest (and a great home CV!) at any rescue places to see if a good fit dog becomes available?... Because unfortunately I suspect there will be a lot over the coming months 🙁

In "normal" times I would expect to pay around £1000 for one that's KC registered and comes with all the health tests.

We paid £750 for our KC beagle two years ago and he came with all his paperwork and jabs. Now people are paying around 3k for a puppy - madness!

Any tips on training not to bark? Pup is 10 months old and has found her voice, also jumps and bites the lead now!

Paid £950 including eye tests and jabs in December last year.

2-3k is what you'll pay for almost any dog from a breeder right n

Threeoleary, Jumping up, ignore and turn your back. Reward calm behaviour. Barking in garden, he was brought in and again rewarded when he didn’t. He had to be calm before he was fed. The timing of giving the treat needs to be immediately and so you need to have treats/kibble in your pocket readily available. It took months and months of training. Good luck.
