Strong but light leash?

I have this little cutie. She is 2 years old and weighs only 9kg but MY GOD she can pull!

I use the Julius K9 harness with no issues, but every lead I buy just breaks after 6 months or so.

I’m working on her walking better on lead, but in the meantime can you recommend a leash that is lightweight but sting please?

We use soft rope slips and have never yet had one break (but then we don’t have problems with pulling either).

She has already destroyed 3 of them

I have an Ancol lead that can hold a 50kg wolfhound. Grin
I also have a lovely leather Essenjay lead. It’s strong but also gorgeous!!

I would not recommend the Julilus K9 harness as it stops natural movement of the shoulders and chest.Long term can cause injuries to the dog.

I am unsure what leads you are using that break - I have never had that happen so suggest that you do not need a lightweight lead but a more substantial lead.

Online pets at home basic wainwright rope lead will not break
or Ancol webbed leads.

I would also look at perfect fit harnesses and leads. Get a double ended lead to attach to front and back of the harness. this will help you train on the pulling and be more comfortable for your dog.

Perfect fit are supposed to be brilliant.

Gosh all my dogs are at least three times the size of yours and I've never had a broken lead!

I like Halti double ended ones. You can adjust the length, or use one end on the harness and one on the collar for extra security.

I also have an Essenjay leather lead and would highly recommend.
Mines a fairly thin rolled leather, 6mm I think.

I also have a dogmatic and dogmatic double ended lead. Or K9 bridle. Just for close control by roads etc!

Halti (double ended ) and a Perfect Fit harness will sort you.
Julius K9 harnesses are not good for dogs..restrict shoulder movement and especially on a 'puller' (my dog pulls like a tractor if she sees a squirrel or cat). My halti lead is fab.. I can use it various ways, but rarely use it with the D ring on the harness... but I CAN if I think she's going to be a pain :)

What a little monster! I have a cavalier, similar size and weight to yours. I use a slip lead most of the time with her which has massively stopped her pulling. She is a bugger for chasing birds and cats

Do you have your cavalier clipped at all? This is a completely unrelated question to the lead! Just mine is an absolute fluff ball! @Bookaholic73

I would switch to a different harness - the Julius K9 restricts natural movement of the shoulder. Any Y-shaped harness would be fine instead.

We use a Halti double-ended lead for walks - light and strong. We've had it for about two years now and it still looks brand new. Washes well too.

How are they breaking?

Those harnesses aren't at good as their price tag suggests. I'd recommend a Perfect Fit with a Halti lead - the double cliopstyle.

Both ours have a Julius lead and it's light, great to grip and strong. 45kg and 33kg dogs.

And yes, I also heard not to use Julius harnesses because of the shoulders.
