Fleas

I was posting for any advice from all you lovely dog owners. I noticed about a month ago our dog had fleas. I had missed flea treatments as was going through a awful time and honestly just had no idea I had. Trust me I've learnt my lesson now have it wrote down. So I've flead him once with advocate and about a week ago with bravecto pill. Have acclaimed house three times and washed all beds, bleached lino tiles etc. Hoovered 15 mins before emptied hoover and put in outside bins. So today I've seen two live fleas. One on dog and one on his bed. One on his bed appeared to be not poisoned one on dog was dying. Today is the third time so all resprayed, hoovered, emptied hoover and binned dog basket didnt want it in my washing machine will replace. Dog has suffered as have children getting bitten. Dog itches still ( but less was told he had allergies by vet but come to find he had fleas 🙄 which is why when he was itching I never thought fleas feel really bad for that now everytime I think of it) I'm just worried as he may of had them weeks the house is beyond me sorting it. Today is also the first time I've seen one in the house though. Do you think I've done enough? Should I redo house again like every month? Should I get it professionally done? Just don't want dog suffering anymore as feel really guilty for not knowing he had them for possibly weeks or children getting bitten either. Treatment has been ongoing a month now but still feel guilty. also didn't know as children only got bitten when treated dog and none of the other animals have caught them either.

Temporary measure =lots of shallow bowls of hot Fairy water around the floors.
The little buggars love a hot bath.

I also have read conflicting advice in regards to hoovering. Some say don't hoover for two weeks as chemicals need to stay on carpet. Others say hoover loads. I've been hoovering but I'm not sure if that's best

Keep up with dog flea treatment and groom with a fine toothed comb to look for flea poo. But some Indesid Spray from the vets to do your house any where the dogs lies, carpets etc. You may have to do it several times, you may have to change the medication as some are getting resistant. You really do have to keep att it to get the hatchlings

Thank you to both of you. Will try bowls of hot soapy water and keep spraying house. How often is every two weeks okay? Should I hoover in-between or leave chemicals on carpet untouched.

Also the dog is not allowed upstairs during the day only to go bed. Should I let him up there until this is over so they can hop on him and die. That's where I seen live one in his bed upstairs. Haven't seen any downstairs where he is most of the time. Thanks

I'm stuck with fleas to and looking advice. Same as u, washed bedding and dog bedding, flea shampoo, flea collar and spot on stuff. Like you I'm unsure about hoovering to try break the cycle.
