Dreading the clock change

My dog wakes up at 6 am. I thought that as the mornings get darker she would sleep for longer, but she doesn't. So tomorrow I know I'll be getting up at 5ish. Does anyone else have an early riser?

We have an early riser but then we get up early as well. I find BiteyDog is more in tune with his bladder and stomach than anything else so will take him out for his last pee a bit later tonight and give him a later snack.

@Cassie71 do you feed your dog soon after waking? Some years ago, I noticed that if I feed my dog at 7am, he'd start starring around 6-6.30am for food.

If I move his breakfast time closer to 8am, he lets me lie in a bit longer!

Do you feed right away in the morning? Mine doesn't get breakfast (we only feed once a day) so he tends to let us sleep in!

Mine gets her breakfast around 10ish and she never seems particularly hungry in the morning, so clock move doesn't tend to make a great deal of difference to her.

However, she's always starving when it's time for her evening meal, which is usually somewhere around 5.30/6ish so that could be a bit tricky; can't remember what happened last year.

She tends to make a lot of eye contact and stare at me in a meaningful way if her food is a bit later than she'd like.

I'm very lucky. Dog is very lazy. I had to throw him out in the garden at 10 this morning for a wee! Don't know how long he would have slept if I hadn't woken him.

Can’t you just tell your dog to go back to sleep? When our dog is in her crate, she doesn’t wake until we decide (we get up the latest 7:30am/8am. And when she sleeps in our bed, the first few times she would wake up and kind of kiss our face or come up to us to see if it’s morning time. We would just say “go sleep! Or bed time” and gently push her down to lie down next to us to sleep. She understood quickly that she must wait until we wake. So basically if we don’t move she let’s us sleep. Obviously if we woke 6am then she would get used to that. But she is happy with whatever routine we established. She is pretty easy going though, and well exercised during the day, so at night she sleeps well and long. Also, her first meal is left out 8am, but she doesn’t eat it sometimes until afternoon!
