The doghouse

Why has our 18 month old lab suddenly started licking and pawing us?

Hi all

As the title says; our beautiful boy lab is a bouncy dream. He gets lots of exercise, lots of attention, lots of sniffing games and training, but over the last week or so, instead of lying on the nearest floor / sofa / leg and conking out, he's constantly pawing at us or licking our arms and legs.

He's 18 months now. I've googled, and varying sites say sign of love, sign of boredom, sign of anxiety, sign of just being a dog.

I don't think he's bored or anxious so that mainly leaves general doggy affection.

We're also pondering when would be best to get him neutered and wondered if this is linked.

Anyone got any experience or guidance they can share?

Have you by any chance changed what you wash with recently? I remember once someone gave me some beautiful mint footbalm as a birthday present. My Lab X also thought it was wonderful and stalked me all over the house trying to lick my feet every time I stood still!!

Hmmmm... that's a thing to ponder, @BrownOwlknowsbest - he certainly seems to think we taste good, but I can't think of anything...

Are you pregnant? my dog knew way before me, he is not affectionate at all but he suddenly started cuddling up to me all the time.

Or he likes the taste of salt in your sweat and you're sweaty cos of summer?
