Recessed vulva and discharge

Has anyone got got any experience of this with their dog?
My girl is 10 and recently I noticed she has a recessed vulva. She is also now showing discharge around the vulva and down her leg. She also urinated on the carpet last night which is highly unusual for her.
Obviously I will be taking her to the vet but I'm hoping somebody has experienced this and what treatment entails.

Has she been spayed?
What does the discharge look like - blood, mucus, pus...?
How is she in herself - behaving normally?

Open pyometra springs to mind, though I'm not a vet. If it's a possibility, she needs to be seen by a vet TODAY as pyometra can kill. By law, all vet practices must have 24/7 cover, but it can be delivered at another site; if your practice isn't open this afternoon then out of hours contact details can usually be found on the website or answerphone message.

Is she spayed ?!

If not get her to the vets now! My last dog had pyo.. if I’d have waited a few more hours she would’ve died

Yes she is spayed. Discharge is yellow coloured. I have washed her with hibiscrub. Shes acting perfectly normal, eating and playful.

Mine has this, I've tried lots of different things but please don't use hibi scrub as it just makes it more sore.
I've been using very diluted iodine twice a day but this hasn't helped but thrush cream seems to have done the trick so fingers crossed!
She is under vet care but we are trying everything instead of surgery

Thanks for the tip about hibiscrub Mrbay, why does it make it sore do you think? I will stop using it if thats the case.
I have thrush cream, might give that a go. I would prefer not to go down the surgery route given her age and she also has a heart condition poor thing.

It's a very strong anti bac, so I wouldn't want it on my ulcerated skin plus it's extremely drying.
I'm the same as you, I don't want to put my 14 year old dog through the surgery.
The next thing I am going to try is some medicated talc, cleared it with the vet first.

Ah ok thanks. I've been reading about malacetic wipes which people claim help but they are quite expensive just to try.

Oh, I've not tried those but I did try the CLX wipes, which didn't help.
