The doghouse

Anyone know what's wrong with my dog's eye? (Pics)

My dog's had a bit of a bad eye for about a month. We've been to the vet repeatedly, but they're not sure what it is. They initially thought conjunctivitis, so we've had a couple of lots of antibiotic drops for that, then some steroid drops. They've dyed the eye to check for damage, but none visible. Symptoms have been:

Red in the white bit, slight weepiness
Slightly milky/cloudy looking in the lower part of the iris
It's now quite red, even after steroids, and seems like parts of the white bit are swollen.

She's a 1 year old spaniel, so it's not an old age thing. She doesn't seem at all bothered by it. Anyone got any bright ideas?

Ouch that looks painful even though you said she isn't bothered by it.

No idea I am afraid but would be asking for a referral to a specialist if the normal things have been tried and failed. I know when my dog (also a spaniel) kept having eye discharge they did suggest if it continued maybe investigating to see if his eye lashes were growing inwards but in the end it turned out to be an allergy.

I wonder if it could be ptergium?

Hmm, possibly. Though it's not triangular, which seems to be a pointer.

Am now wondering whether it could be something in the eye. Does anyone know what would happen to a small piece of grass or something if it got stuck in the eye?
