Dog tracker help!!

So my dog has discovered the joys of rabbit holes in her latent years.... we are now having electric dog fences fitted (farm dog, uncontainable otherwise!) but in the meanwhile would like to get some sort of tracker so we can see where she goes, retrieve her if necessary, and continue to use on walks in case she ever decides to disappear then. Can anyone recommend something suitable, for small (7kg terrier) dogs, that hopefully works if they are slightly underground (or at least tracks to last signal location). Ideally not too expensive bearing in mind the electric fence will be installed soon but efficacy is really the most important thing!

Many thanks for any help, it seems a mine field and I want something tomorrow (so ideally available on prime 🤣!!).

Would a Tile do the job. They are Bluetooth, so I’m not sure if will work below ground.

I tried one a couple of years ago which sent signals via 4g (or 3G can't remember which).

I had to send it back as it didn't work in lots of areas but I walk in forests (my phone worked in those areas). It was also very slow to update on the app so if he was on the move then it wasn't going to be very accurate. So for me the technology just wasn't good enough for what I wanted.

I am not sure how any of them would work if he was underground but as long as you had a last reading I guess it would be fine. Are there any you could trial in a 'money back guarantee'?? Oh and I found the one I used (can't remember the name) was quite chunky and heavy.

Thank you bitey, again more of my worries! We do often walk in woodland too. I hadn't thought about trees affecting signal and rabbit holes are often under lots of vegetation.

Hoping for a positive recommendation soon, by maybe there is a reason we don't see other dog walkers using them!

I tried Tractive. It was bloody useless.

I tried two kinds because I have an escape artist but neither worked so I returned. Don't believe the 5 star Amazon reviews! Ddog is now restricted to only being outside supervised or in the rain (he never wanders far in inclement weather) - bizarrely in the Park etc he never wanders!
