The doghouse

Those with crates, do you all use a crate cover?

Do you all use a cover on the crate?

My 15 week old pup has started to use hers as a rag toy and pulls it through the bars Hmm

Do you think she’ll be ok without a cover? It just looks so cosy in there with one on Smile not much good when she’s pulling it off though!

When we had a crate I didn't have a cover.

However, when he was very little we used a cave bed inside it so he had his own den inside the crate (the crate was massive).

When he started to chew the cave bed we simply got him a cushion bed inside the crate to lie on and he was happy without any cover on top of him.

I would try without the cover and see how she is. However, you might want to check that there are no drafts and the room is sufficiently dark at night.

I did but it wasn't anything special. For a long while it was a few old dog towels draped over. That way they were to hand in case of accidents and were just as dark and warm as any cover, imo.

If he'd have chewed them, I think I'd have just removed them and let it coverless.

Our almost a year old puppy pulls anything in he can so if I put something on top temporarily ( crate in kitchen and such a good place to pile stuff on!) then if I forget it, it's inside the crate. He also takes thing sin like tea towels, fleeces etc. He likes it cosy! Never used a cover except when camping and that was a blanket

when I didn't use a cover he didn't sleep! I just draped a heavy bedspread but I kept the door area free of cover so he could see out a bit/ventilation. Dark is a signal to him for sleep, but he can sleep in a room with a light on it as long as his crate has a cover...(so can sleep in family room of an evening while we are still up.

Mine is now blocked in 3 sides by walls/sofa and has a board on top so I can put stuff on top, but i've older dogs so didn't bother pulling off the sheet either. Maybe use bit of cardboard they can't grab through the bars.

Thanks all. She’s currently fast on in there without a cover on. Hope I don’t get an early wake up call Grin
