Planned a trip away camping with the dc for Easter holidays, been bugging dh to book kennels since Christmas.
Campsite expecting our deposit ASAP, informed my customers I will be away. Older dc in place for house care duties etc.
Dh finally fesses up the kennels are fully booked.
Without our ddogs in...
I am so fuming.
Told older dd I am leaving him at home on ddog duties.
She said I was a meany!!
So, am I??

Can older DC not mind dog and house?
Confusedwhy the heck should the dc (even assuming they're old enough) give up their holiday because their dad is incompetent?

You could try something like Holidays4Dogs but that would be more than kennels.
Are there no kennels somewhat further afield?

Assuming the older dc were already staying home to look after the house I can’t see why you were putting the dog in kennels in the first place .

I missed the bit about 'Older dc in place for house care duties etc. '.

Maybe those older DC are out at work, or don't actually live at home?

What about kennels near your campsite? I’d get him on the case immediately to find a solution.

Why's the dog not going camping too?

Loads of home boarding options available if you google ( we had a similar situation due to Ddog not quite getting on with neighbours cat where he was meant to be staying) situation can be sorted quickly but clearly not by your useless DH

Why's the dog not going camping too?

Some dogs simply refuse to loiter within tents.
