The doghouse

Nasty ear wax on fur question!

Our dog has just finished with an ear infection that was pretty stinky!

He’s all better now but the hair around and under his ears is horribly waxy. I tried gently wiping it with warm water on a cloth but that’s just spread it around! I’ve tried trimming the worst bits off but he’s not too keen on that.

He’s long overdue a grooming and cut session because of an op and and then his ear problems. He’s going in a week. But until then is there a good way to get the waxyness out of his fur? Or am I best leaving it to the poor groomer?

Can you bath him? Ours has had similar and only a bath/shower cleans it away.

Thanks Agatha.
I tried bathing him this morning but it’s still looking pretty waxy. He looks like he has wet look gel on! Grin

Think it would have been appreciated more in the 90s to be honest. Confused

We've got the same problem. I'm not sure if it's the ear drops that have leaked out or what. I was thinking dog shampoo and a sponge.

I did wonder if it was the ear drops. But then it smells waxy to me 🤢

I tried some dog shampoo and a warm ish bath. I suppose it might be slightly better. But he’s still stuck with his wet look gel vibe.

Let me know if it works for you. Maybe our shampoo is rubbish.

Ours is quite a dark colour so she looks okay really grubby. I'll let you know.
