Swapping over food and icky pops

Sorry for gross title! We've just switched over our 15 month Labrador from beta adult to skinners lamb and rice. We did it phased and as recommended and the phasing period was fine but he's been on skinners for 2 full weeks now and I'm not sure it agrees with him. His poos can be normal but then he maybe squats 2-3 times more with some watery poo. I asked the vet last Friday who said to give it a couple more weeks but there's not really been any change at all this week. Any thoughts? Should I put him back on beta and try something else in a month or so? I'd like to get him on something rated more highly than beta on the allaboutdogfoods but can't afford the very expensive kibble or raw.

You could try feeding a bit less - over feeding will cause runny poos at the end of a normal poo.

I already have him at the bear minimum for his weight really as he came to me a year old as a chunky show dog but I wanted him a bit leaner for his joints! I've been reading and I wonder if it's sensitivity to the lamb or the rice and the beta had neither. May need to do a process of elimination.

Perhaps feeding 3 times a day instead of 2 though? So three smaller meals?

There's a lot of rice in that. Arden grange, James wellbeloved, wainwrights, AVA have meat as a first ingredient I think (am on pets at home website)

I did wonder about the rice content. He won't actually eat rice on its own when I've had him on a light diet after vomiting he ate around the rice and was better with potato!

Try adding some natural yogurt or something like bionic biotic from Pooch and Mutt to get some good bacteria into the gut. If the first poos are formed and the rest sloppy, it's generally over feeding.

We've got ours on Millie's Wolfheart. It's very energy dense so you don't use a lot, and my spaniel didn't get on at all with Skinners... had the constant squits on it.
