advice for bringing home a new puppy

hello
I'm very excited that we will hopefully bringing home our border terrier puppy next weekend. This is our first family dog and whilst I cannot wait I just wanted to get any advice or tips for bringing her home and getting settled. I've done loads of reading online about puppy training, breed specific info etc but would just love any real life advice so I'm as prepared as can be!

Get her in the garden asap and hopefully she will either wee or poo and you can start praising her .worked for our puppy he only did a couple of poos inside.
