Jumpy grumpy dog

TL:DR Dog is stressed and I'm frightened of him. I'd like to PTS now.

It's all started again. Now DH and I are back to square 1.

He's intermittently lame.

Dog is having Physio and had a session of hydrotherapy. He's scared of the water so is stressed, but has more sessions booked in. He's on loxicom and paracetamol now too. He seems to like massage though.

I feel awful but I've had enough. I think he's in pain and has residual muscle memory? So he's predicting the worst.

Since original post things got better. We've been to workshops for scent stuff which he has excelled at.

It hasn't all been bad.

We've had some successful outings and DH is much better with him than me, but I don't want a dog I can't walk or be in the lounge with because of his disposition.

Again, please be kind. This is a complex situation and I had wonderful advice previously.

I'm going to read previous thread back now as I know I last posted on a high.

I can't read your last thread. Can you try other things for the pain? Golden paste? Acupuncture? Bowen therapy? Yumove?
Different pain meds?
Adaptil to calm at home?
Hoping for more helpful responses soon!

Think link works in 2nd post? I'll bump the original thread.

Tried adaptil plug in and collar.

I've just reread my post and realised he's been jumping about quite a bit at various bugs in the garden. I bet that isn't helping.

Does he shadow chase?
Have you seen a proper behaviourist? (Not a dog trainer! And be careful the industry isn't regulated)

No shadow chasing and yes to behaviourist.

In the process of getting her to come out again but I don't think there's anything new for her to suggest.

I've found and read your thread. All sounds like it was very related to pain. Better pain meds? Higher dose? We had a cat on tramadol. Arthritis. It was that or PTS but she did well on it.
Are you still keeping him off the sofa and not letting him jump up/jar himself?
Sounds really difficult.

@Wolfiefan Thankyou. Maybe pain meds do need to be increased again.

After posting I've been thinking that we have got lax in a few things. And I do mean a few.

So running on stairs, and in and out Of the car. Need zero tolerance again I think.

It's easy to do though. if they're doing well you forget one or two of all the things you were doing to keep them that way. You sound so caring and like you only want what's best for him. I wish all owners were like that.
