I have posted about this on a thread, and have started a thread about it over in The Litter Tray, but as a dogperson too I'm spreading the love over here! I come in peace.
Most of us are pretty good these days at getting our dogs microchipped, registering our details, and also arranging for stray dogs who find us to be scanned for microchips. But do we always remember to keep the registered details up to date if we move house, change phone numbers or vets, or if we rehome a dog elsewhere?
Recently we took an injured stray cat to the vet. Thankfully she was microchipped, the owner was telephoned, and I was able to take the cat back to her home. However the vet was dealing with another microchipped stray cat and the owner could not be contacted because the registration details were out of date. Such a shame.
I know that some owners simply don't care that much, or deliberately move and leave their dog behind. For the majority of us though it is an oversight and we'd be devastated if we couldn't be reunited with our dogs in this situation.
