The doghouse

Dog ripped claw off a week ago - still bothering her

She ripped one of the claws off her back feet a week ago (a normal one not a dew claw) and there is still a fleshy bump where her nail was. I imagine it's like ripping a nail off so the nailbed is exposed. She's not limping anymore but she is stil licking it all the time. I'm keeping it clean and bathing it in salt water but will it eventually grow back?! I'm keeping an eye on it and will take her to the vets if it looks like it's getting worse but I hate how it must be painful for her Sad.

Get it checked by a vet as she may have damaged the actual nail bed which may require treatment . My dog has nail issues and they do take a long time to heal and also you need to stop her licking it .

I hope you have taken your dog to the vet OP.
A nasty infection could very easily set in. Painful.

No just bathing it, my best friend is a vet nurse and I took her to hers last night and she said it didn't need antib's. She said just carry on with what I'm doing and it will eventually grow back Smile. Obviously I'll keep checking for infection and take her if it looks inflamed at all!

Please take your dog to see the Vet.
This recently happened to my dog, he needed antibiotic cover, and the foot wrapping.
I truly do not wish to be rude, but the Vet Nurse is not the Vet.
