I've heard about doing this kind of thing. I plan to buy a pile of burgers, and they love to be brushed, and I will have the vet to the house and spoon them at the end. It boggles my mind how we all so openly choose to have our hearts this broken.

Oh yes, I daresay she LOVED having a bath and her nails painted Hmm

Why publicise such a personal loss? Oh of course, its the daily mail.

It is nice that she was able to make the most difficult decision in good time, always better imo but not everyone has that luxury and their pets deteriorate quickly to a point where the best thing for them is to be pts at home or in surgery at short notice.

The best thing people can do for their pets is maintain normality, lots of cuddles and try not to let them see you upset. If you can be with them at the end then that is good too.

I work in a vets and owner grief never gets easier to deal with and we often have to take some time out after pts. It is only something we can do because we know its the kindest thing.

I haven't read that and I won't

What people do with their dying dogs is their choice.

The night before Nero had to go to the vet to be pts, I bought him a rotisserie chicken and some chocolate. He had a lovely indulgent meal. The best he had eaten for a while. Sad

I thought that too...but the last picture did make me Sad

I don't think she did publicise it as such? They don't seem to have any details at all about her or who any of the people are, I think they've lifted it from somewhere like they do on here.

A rotisserie chicken, Soubriquet, what a fabulous idea.

I don't find it sad, I think its really touching.

Every living thing will die at some point so if a creature or person has had a lovely last day then that is not sad, it is something to be celebrated!
