He is beautiful. Looks very imperious up there on his throne Wink. We have a Goldie boy and he's getting on but still so handsome. He's not allowed on the furniture though.... far too big and hairy !

jigster01 · 23/02/2016 21:31

When we got him we said no going on furniture!! ....we had to keep to that for a while until he knew his place as he was very dominant in the beginning and tried to rule us all ..my ds has trained him very well

That face. So gorgeous.
Dominant though? You do know that theory has been discredited?

Here's our boy in his favourite place. At least this water was clean, unlike the mud baths he generally favours.

I don't know whether dominance theory is right or not but I do know that our GR became mich less stroppy when he was banned from the sofa.
Anyway, here he is

He is gorgeous.

Dominance theory has been disproved, but maybe OP means confident/boisterous? We have one of those - you have given me hope OP.

Well he was definately very very confident. ..use to get very angry and growl when we told him to get off furniture, not to chew things he shouldn't etc . He was spoilt when he was a puppy and we were told he was treated like a prince and so thought he was one ! It was our fault really. He had to be reminded who was the leader of the pack .
It was a lot of work as there are 6 of us in the house and we all have to do training and be consistent. He is now so so good .He will now get off furniture if we tell him to without a peep !

He is a stunner Jig. happy birthday to him 😊 we're trying not to let our new dog (adult) on settees as he too gets well growly when I try to get him off. I think it's too confusing for him thinking everywhere's his.

Thanks jigster. No he's definitely not a puppy - he's nearly 11! He was 9 on that photo I posted; he's obviously for good genes because he still looks very young Wink. The muddy picture is a very familiar sight in this house as well.

HoppingGreen yours is beautiful too. I just love Goldies; they are like big teddy bears.

Gorgeous! They're a wonderful breed.

This is my MILs old GR about 12 months before he died with my eldest DC (who's now almost 6). My DH had sat her on the sofa & he got up next to her just as she was falling asleep. He was amazing.

Lovely dog.

Dominance/packs/ knowing place/leader of pack - all discarded theories and quite wrong really. cesar Milan it's your fault to keep going on about these

Ooh loved seeing all these pics of your beautiful GRs, as has DS.
We have a puppy and you've given him something to look forward to- he's not really enjoying the puppy bit, and just wants him to be big and (hopefully) calm (

I'm just going to sneak this pic of ours on too Grin
