we have a 10 week old pup - had her 3 days but she's a little wiffy, too soon to give her a bath?

she's settling in great, so I don't want to scare her but she could do with a wash!

I'm sure more experienced owners will comment, but I would hold off for a bit if you can. Has she been in kennels - I know they can whiff from that smell? What breed is she?

Also, cute picture is required whenever the word pup is mentioned here!

If you have to, get a natural shampoo, not Johnsons or similar as they are very harsh.

From memory we bathed ours within a few days using a natural shampoo from one of those dog boutique type places. He did stink a bit of his littermates.
He fitted in the sink then. It was much easier Smile

Agreeing with Bagel though, rule number 1 - photo!!!

She will of been bathed before by the breeder so when ever you feel she needs a bath, bath her.

With our litters we alternate between flea bath and just water bath but that's only because we seem to end up with litters of 8 or 9 and that many pups playing in the garden they get messy quickly more so since they ruined the grass and in the last few weeks they end up bathed more than I would like but it has to be done.

What kind of pup have you got? We've had ours now since Feb and she loves playing with the hosepipe and with water but I will not subject her to soap unless she stinks to high heaven. I have some dog shampoo called Fox Poo, just for whenever.

Our DPup is 8w today. Already had a shower after treading puppy poo everywhere... She had been regularly bathed/showered by the breeder though so didn't flinch. In fact made less fuss in the shower than my 6 year old

You could bath her now or you could dilute baby shampoo in a bowl of warm water, soak a face cloth in it, wring out and rub the puppy all over, repeat a couple of times then do the same with plain water.
