The doghouse

Is Kong the only brand that makes indestructible toys?

Have the basic black one and the wobbler. Looking for other toys for clever dog who kills everything else.

Also, now he has the wobbler down pat, can I make it harder/change it at all?

I quite like Busy Buddy toys :-) They are purple and there are all sorts of treat toys in the range. Do you just mean treat toys or dog balls and other things too? If you also mean 'hard to destroy' balls, I don't think you can beat Chuckit Ultra Ball www.dfordog.co.uk/chuckit-ultra-dog-ball.html

And we have a Squeezz Stick which scares him.

Anything really. Obviously indestructible is great, but toys under supervision are ok too Grin

Which Busy Buddy do you rate? I quite like the look of the linkables.

My 6 month old JRT destroyed his Kong today :( He never rips up cuddly toys, strangely, but seems to be able to destroy an "indestructible" toys easily enough!

My dog has destroyed his Kongs too. He had a couple of wubbas and a couple of air toys and some with balls attached and none of them have lasted. The completely rubber ones have been OK but he's not too interested in them. I think they are too exciting really. He mostly just has sticks now.

We have used Nylabones for our Staffies past and present. Good quality tennis balls also last quite well, although our old girl liked to pull all the fluff off them.

Yes, I've gone for expensive tennis balls. Just can't bear the slimey slobbery thing keep being put on the sofa every other second so they go away when we get home. Fool always drops it for a treat Grin

Will look up nylabone, thanks.

Gah at your pup Juliet! I've never had a pup, those teeth must be awesome! My kids are quite fearful for their precious soft toys after they watched Fred rip the head off one he found downstairs. And he does love the slimey horrible head so...

That photo with the purple rug...that's one of those really tough rope toys, all frayed.

That other photo was about 30 seconds with a cushion...and that string hanging out of his mouth, yeah that was one of those rope toys too.

Rubber kongs and the wobblers are literally the only toys that live longer than a day and that's only because he's only interested in them when they have food in them.

I've tried different kong toys, those tuff or is it tuffie? branded ones. Killed them. He manages to kill tennis balls while bringing them back...and without actually doing anything. Confused

Ropes usually take a couple of days, so I just stock up on cheap ones and leather footballs sometimes make it a week before they're actually breaking apart and have to be taken off him...he bursts them straight away, but he can still play with them then.

I'm thinking maybe I should just keep my old car tyres for him? Lol

I have this problem. Give ddog a toy, ddog destroys toy.

She has a couple of rope toys that she has 0 interest in. Hence their continued existence.

I'm open to suggestions

Chuckit dog balls!!!! :-) Don't bother with tennis balls... even the Chuckit ones. Get the Chuckit rubber balls. Ultra Ball is my fave but they do others like Erratic, which is a great shape, Whistler that... um... Whistles, lol.... and more. Love them. My terrier loves their Max Glow. Really good glow on them and he hasn't busted it yet (he can do a tennis ball in 5 secs).

Re Busy Buddy toys, my dogs have Squirrel Dude, Bouncy Bone, Tug a Jug, Twist n Treat. I quite fancy Barnacle next. I haven't tried Linkables. Look interesting.

I have heard good things about antlers too, but also not so good things. Seems they are a bit like Marmite.... dogs like them or hate them. Antlers in our house last years cos my dogs won't touch them, lol.

Mine eats them too...he doesn't play with them though, just chews.

We have the Bento Ball. So far its in one piece after having it for a few months and even our older lab who still chews occasionally hasn't destroyed it yet...

Peanut butter smeared inside the ball today lasted a long long while Grin.

After he came back in from walk with another ruined tennis ball I think I am going to try one of those pricier ones. Is the white glow one easy to find if gets lost?

Yes, they have a really good glow :-) www.dfordog.co.uk/chuckit-max-glow-dog-ball.html My terrier loves them. He has quite a few knocking about the house and even if I go downstairs really late at night they are all still glowing away on the floor, lol.

Try Ultra Ball too, as they are really hard to destroy. We used to resort to solid balls that are so heavy. These are hollow (so light) and have good bounce.

Nylabone - peanut butter one - has gone down well! Awaiting variety of balls to test out. Stupidly bought a football size tennis ball today as going past a sports shop. He loved it, for about 2 minutes, before puncturing it obviously. Kong frisbee is interesting.

Lost the black kong though, it isn't anywhere, so maybe it mysteriously became edible or it's buried in the garden somewhere nice and safe Confused

Boomer balls, black kongs and nylabones are all that have survived here with our staffie, anything else is taken to bits in seconds!

One of ours is a powerful chewer (we have to frequently replace nylabones), but he loves squeakies. We accidentally discovered Bad Cuz toys... Still have to limit his access to them, but only because the squeaking would never bloody stop! Wink

I've just quit using store-bought toys, except for frisbees, which she doesn't try to kill for some reason. Otherwise she just plays with sticks outdoors, and chews hooves and antlers at home. The antlers DO last forever, and she loves them.

SteveBrucesNose · 21/10/2014 18:51

The only thing that hasn't died with ours is the actual kongs. Wubbas last 3-4 hours which is good as their favoured toy, a stuffing-less elephant, usually lasts 30 mins. They even go straight for the basket the elephants are in at the reception in the vets, therefore I have to buy them all as they're covered in dog slobber.

They like fluffy things best, so indestructible and fluffy would be good if anyone can point me in the right direction!
