We collect our first ever dog in a few weeks, feel like I am nesting! Anyone else at similar stage?

We pick up a puppy pal for my 11 month old dog on 20th November.
I went to see her on Thursday, she is gorgeous!

I have always had dogs, so not the big woo you are havingGrin

Be great to stay in touch and exchange updates!

Have you got a name yet?

We picked up our 9 month rescue a week ago. Our feet haven't touched the ground since.

I'd forgotten how demanding young dogs are.

Getting ours end of next month.
Polly, is it harder than you thought?
Am thinking Italian names....

It IS harder than you imagine. Sorry, but true! HOWEVER, it is brilliant tooSmile
I always forget what hard work puppies are, the constant taking out for a wee, mopping up the wee that they do when re-entering the house after a lengthy pee break in the garden, the feeding 4 times a day, the weeing....
It seems as though it will never end, but you have a lovely cuddly besottingly wonderful pup to love while the bad things are happening, and just as they lose their drop dead gorgeous puppiness, they attain bladder control and a bit of independence.

Ain't nature grand?!

I've got a cavachon. Which I'm slightly embarrassed to admit due to the anti designer dog feeling on here.

However I wanted a puppy, and something which I knew wouldn't grow too big and had an idea that the breeds in the mix were breeds which are normally a good temperament.

Only had older dogs before and last dog came with all sorts of problems so was adamant we were having a pup not a rescue this time.

She's lovely. We've called her Luna. Other dog is a bit jealous at times and has snapped at her but overall they seem to be getting on well.

Beautiful! Its all so exciting. I know what you mean re rescue dog - I think I might have been tempted had there been a rescue spinone but have never seen one. My dc are all young and I like the idea of them all growing up together, so puppy it is.

Sorry forgot to check back, we're getting a springer x cocker, we can't wait, researching lots of training ideas and buying warm clothes for winter walking

I have a spinone! They are wonderful dogs.

They are very stubborn and string willed so start as you mean to go on. Don't be fooled by their beautiful looks.

Are you crate training?

Middleton, sorry, just checked post!
I have heard the boys are even more stubborn.....what flavour is yours? Mine in a brown roan boy.
Planning on crate training, as much for the dogs sanity as mine - I have 3 dc who will love him too much!

We have a boy too. Orange and white.
They are wonderful dogs and adore everyone in the family. Lovely with children. They are hilarious too. Have lots of funny little ways. Honestly wouldn't have another breed now.

Crate training has saved my sanity. Spins get into mischief in 3 seconds flat if left alone. Pinching food/letters/reading glasses/kids homework of the side, shredding anything they can get their paws on and just generally getting up to no good. Crates stop bad habits forming.

Have you thought of a name yet?

After much deliberation I think we are going for Primo. How old is your boy and did you wait long to find him? Its taken nearly a year in the planning for us, Spin breeders seem to be a very protective bunch, really reassuring but its taken a lot of proving myself, going to events etc before I could get on a puppy waiting list.

Ah Primo! Never heard of one. There's lots of Enzo's and Bella's Smile though..my boy is 16 months and we were lucky that a fairly local breeder had one dof left.

Spin breeders and owners are loopy for their dogs. They get away with murder!

So after much research, deliberation and changing our minds over the last year. We finally decided on a breed and today we put a deposit on our new family member, he's a roan springer x cocker and absolutely perfect for us! He comes home on the 28th, he'll be almost 14 weeks, the breeder is keeping him a little longer for us as we have family coming to stay for a long weekend and we don't won't to overwhelm him, I will be going there to walk him and begin his training and he's going to visit us a few days too before then. Now just need a name......

We've got a cocker puppy. 14 weeks. Crazy dawg but love him. Enjoying the challenge of house training etc but then I always was a sucker for punishment!
