Coconut oil doesn't contain enough omega 3s if I was going to Fred an oil I would go for salmon or mackerel.

I get cold pressed salmon oil from John Angell, it's not very expensive.

I'm also on the hunt Marco

I'm using one from a health shop at the minute which is expensive but a tea spoon of it in her dinner every day has certainly stopped her constant scratching.

Clinical studies have shown fish oil far more effective at reducing itching than plant oils I really would consider it.

She has oily fish once a week along side a whole egg.

Fish oil needs to be given daily to be effective.

Thanks lone, I didn't know it needs to be daily. We have definatly had a good result with the coconut oil but I would happily swap to fish oil in regards to cost alone

I was thinking of adding coconut oil as I am already feeding raw with plenty of fish.

We get a jar from tesco for £6 ish. It's down the oil aisle.

How much fish oil do you Give? We give our staff pilchard with his dinner every other day and a teaspoon of coconut oil mixed in with breakfast.

Oh dear it looks like the newly added coconut oil plus the oily fish have caused an explosion in the poo department!

I fed a large chicken carcass for tea tonight so hopefully normal poo will be delivered tomorrow.

www.realfoodstore.co.uk/sri-lankan-coconut-oil/

Found this.
It says extra virgin, cold pressed. Not sure if it's unrefined. But cheapest I found.

coconut oil isn't species appropriate, Fish for dogs salmon oil or similar is far better for them, gives them gloriously smooth and silky coats and does away with itches and scratching :)
