The doghouse

Just when I was starting to feel guilty about keeping the ewok on a longline?

I spoke to my oh this morning from the hotel I was staying in and an hour before his friend opened our garden gate the ewok shot past, ran down the drive, across the road, down the cut where she stopped twice but the second oh got close off she ran again, down the steps, across the dual carriageway (thank god it was 8am sat and road was quiet) then through the small shopping precinct where oh finally caught her.

God that's scary OP.

I kept my girl on a longline for nearly a year from the age of about 8 months. During that time we started classes - couldn't get into the classes earlier as they were all booked up - and the trainer told me it could take as much as 2 years to get a dog to the point where you can trust it with 100% recall and feel able to ditch the longline.

My girl is nearly 3 yo now and I have complete trust in her recall but I was almost in tears sometimes thinking we'd never get there and like you I felt awful having her on the longline for so long.

Good luck.

I know I kept thinking about it on the drive home and felt sick

Thank you for telling me your experiences, it gives me hope that it could happen eventually
