Dog biting his nails

It's just started recently and happens whenever he's relaxing under my bed listening to me read famous five out loud to my DD or when we're watching Breaking Bad. Do you think the tension in the two stories is getting to him or could it be something more sinister? He's 8 and It's never happened before.....

Maybe his nails are getting to long an d he is dealing with it himself?

It could be I suppose but they aren't particularly long.... I did wonder whether it could be related to the fact that on our walks these days he's on grass and mud for most of the time so his nails don't get naturally worn down. But like I say they don't seem too long. Time to get him groomed I suppose and get them a trim then see if he still bites them after that!

One of mine does this...a lot!
She's a right Park Avenue Princess, always doing her manicure.
Obviously how I cut & file them doesn't meet her high standards. Hmm

Rule out itchiness if they are red and sore, if not and they are a bit long the dog will get more mud in them and when cleaning the dog will be at them for ages lilcamper is right maybe need a trim as mud is getting in
