I have a 3 year old Cocker Spaniel but the last 6 months he seems to be troubled by fleas no matter what I have done. I have used Frontline, Frontline Combo, Advantage and one I bought off the vet but can't remember what it was called as the vet put it on.

I have used numerous cans of Indorex, washed bedding on a hot wash every other day and tumble dried it. Sprayed everywhere (he does not go upstairs) we have wooden flooring and tiled flooring all downstairs. One large rug in the living room that I steam clean as much as possible. Yet still he scratches. Due to him being very active every day he can get a bit pongy so he has a proper wash down every weekend and I always find a flea either in the water or still on him but easy to pick off. Blush

Are these flea products really any good because never had this endless problem before.

Try Advocate from the vet and I understand the flea bomb things you can buy are quite good although I've never used them. You put them room, close it up and leave it till it's done it's work and then air the room.

Washing him too often will wash off any treatment you've given him, so perhaps best to leave him pongy, at least that's what my vet says.

Obviously the bomb things are not for treating the dog, the Advocate is for the dog the bomb things for the house. Typing in a hurry.

Have you actually seen fleas? Or are you seeing the dog scratch?
There are a whole host of reasons why dogs scratch that are not fleas.

Oh see you have. No product kills fleas instantly and keeps working. These sound like sleepy dying fleas that the product is killing. This would suggest a flea reservoir possible in your garden.

Thank you.

I have seen the bombs in PAH, I am home all Tuesday morning so will get one and do it then. They sound great. Never heard of them before.

I have seen flea's. In the last 6 months since this problem started i must have picked off or seen in water at least 6 of the buggers. Yes they are sleepy because still alive but very easy to get. Got a magnifying glass out last time to inspect what I was dealing with Grin. Ugly.

Guess I am not helping by washing him every week. Dog deodorant on shopping list as well.

If you are washing him every week you are making the flea treatment much much less effective. The only product that would stand up to that amount of washing is a Seresto collar. I general flea treatments are meant to survive maximum of two baths per week.

Seresto collar. I will google that later. Battery on ipad just about to give up.

Thanks.
