Dog V Fox

Walked around a corner in the woods this morning and came across a very large, very pissed off dog fox. He looked quite old and battle scarred, and was well up for a scrap. Jas shot forward eager to oblige and I had visions of hideous vet bills, but tried to recall via whistle anyway. Well. He only bloody came back Shock I'm not sure who was more surprised tbh, but it gave Foxy a chance to leg it without having to murderise any stupid spaniels, so I am exceedingly glad. I suppose the moral of the story is.....keep working on that recall

Woweeee that was a close call, Chickens. I'm not sure what Patch would have done. He's fear agressiveish, runs away but air snaps if the dog won't leave him.

You must have been terrified!

I was a bit worried, I have to admit. I knew that Jas would come off worse in a fight. Usually, I can see Jas considering my request for him to recall. He sort of stands there and goes 'Hmmm. Is it worth it? I mean, I can smell bunnies over here, but she's got gravy bones.' I can see him mulling over his options. This morning, though, I think he was quite relieved to be recalled Grin

We saw a fox in our garden and as the chickens were free ranging, we rushed out, followed by our cocker! I shouted 'fox', she looked at him, virtually said 'hello mate' and then looked at me to say 'where was the pheasant?'

I pointed at the fox, she understood finally and she chased it out through the hedge Grin

I couldn't stop laughing when aged Westie took off round the field after a dog fox twice her size, she was running as fast as her little old legs could carry her, he didn't break into a sweat, after all round here he is used to outwitting a whole pack of much younger fitter hounds Wink
