Missing Pets

I'm not sure if this has happened to any other MN'ers. Last summer my dog disappeared and we've never been able to find him. He was chipped and reported missing, I spent weeks/months calling rescues all over the country and putting posters up everywhere. I still search the free ads and DogLost for him in case he's been found or someone is trying to sell him.

We have a foster dog with us, but nothing can fill the hole that he left in our lives. When a pet dies you grieve, but we can't lay Goya to rest because he's out there somewhere and there's always the hope that somehow he might come home.

Has anybody else been or going through this? Are there other MN'ers out there missing their dogs? If you link to your DogLost page, I'll share and tweet it just in case.

This is my dog's page: www.doglost.co.uk/dog-blog.php?dogId=40761

awww fuzzy how awful for you and I know exactly how you feel, 3 years ago we got a dalmation puppy we got her at 8 weeks, one evening I let her our for her usual wee, she was 4 months by now I usually stay with her but this particular evening I needed a wee too so popped back indoors, when I went to get her the gate was open I went looking up and down the road, I found her dog tag in the road:( I too put her on dog lost put posters up contacted local rescues, we had given up hope, but 8 months later we got a call from a rescue 70 miles away, some white van man said he found her???? we were so happy to get her back but she was in a very bad state, her fur stained yellow from pee, her back legs bowed where she had been tied down and couldn't stand properly and she stunk of horse poo she even her poop looked like horse poop, unfortunately she had been so badly treated she became quite nasty towards us and my 4 year old dd and we could not keep her, but happy ending a good friend of mine took her in and she has turned out lovely and we still get to see her, there is hope (travellers had taken her for breeding but obviously she was far too young)

just looked at your doglost page, you live about 3 miles from me, what I think helped us was going to the papers getting her pic out there :) xx
