Hi, I'm just wondering whether anyone has any experience of having a puppy and a toddler? We are seriously considering getting an English Setter puppy but with a (loud but respectful) 2 1/2 year old and (an even louder) 1 year old I have a niggling worry we might be taking on too much. I only work part time and DH works from home so I think we have enough time to invest in training etc. We're quite active, live in the country and do walk quite a lot already so my heart says a dog would fit in with our family quite well, and it would be lovely for the children to grow up with a dog (I have fond memories of my own golden retriever) but my head says maybe I won't be able to cope with so many babies in the house! Any experiences/advice you could share would be gratefully received....

I asked on here a few months back about us getting a lab puppy, we have DD, who is 4 and a new DC die in Dec,

was sternly told I was silly - however, best decision!! Yes its hard work, but Tilly is so rewarding and we love her, she's fantastic and a pleasure to take out.

I crate trained her, and she's fab - do what your heart tells you, but be warned they are hard work, but I love setters, we had 4 english liver and white ones when I was a kid :)
