Best Dry Dog Food Please.

Minature Schnauzer had a load of teeth out a few months ago, fine now, has been on soft food because of this but think he is now ready to get back on dried food. He is 8 years old.

Used to be on James Wellbeloved before and really seemed happy on that, shiny eyes and coat etc. Is this a good food? I gave him this at my sisters recommendation. Obviously he is getting on a bit and want to give him the best possible now.

Any thoughts.

I've tried pretty much all of them and Orijen is my favourite. My old dog has had a new lease of life on it and my two youngsters are great.

Orijen is a good one though I feed raw.

I do belive that JWB is an average not bad "off the shelf" dry food.

I had my staffy on Orijin. He loved it but it was a bit too rich for him.

Now both pups (Staffy and Labradoodle) are thriving on JWB. Enough flavours to stop my fussy Staff from getting bored and Flupps will eat anything. Typical Lab!!

We use Burns High Oats for 5 year old JRT. Fills him up without filling him out too much :)

James Wellbeloved was always a favourite for my two but I believe it was taken over by Pedigree so I'm not sure what it is filled with these days, pretty sure it is still good though.

Arden Grange also very good.

JWB is a good enough diet- and hypoallergenic. Tbh, there is no "best" dry dog food- it really does depend on what suits your dog! My old boy (15 1/2) has been on dried Chappie (the cheapest of the cheap, and looked down on by many!) for years, because all the other "better quality " (ie more expensive) foods run right through him. hth

It depends on your dog. I used to use ARden Grange, but because of my 18months' special diet he is on Royal CAnin Special Control, his coat is fab, his eyes are shiny and it is bloody expensive.

My 8 week old is on RC maxi puppy and she loves it, but I am not convinced it is filling her up. Am going to look into Orijens.

mine are on Arden Grange just because that was what my springer was on when he was at the breeders. However he is never very 'solid' IFKWIM.... but maybe that is because he doesn't seem to think he has time to poo and runs off half way through!
My sensible collie seems ok on it!
My sheltie cross was on tinned Chappie his entire life and he lived to 17 so it can't have been that cheap and nasty
