Oh no-Omar is my favourite.We can't stay up late enough,so have bought the series on DVD.We are up to series 3 and 4 is en route to us.I'm gutted about Omar though.He had a very erudite turn of phrase and was the only American I've ever heard using the phrase 'pokey' for prison.

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Sorry to ruin about Omar for you george! Alas, tis always the way in The Wire, kill off any characters with redeeming features and let the ones that have not survive. Won't ruin anymore but I was upset about a character's death in 3,4 and 5......I just love dem gangstas obviously.

At leat they didn't touch 'The Bunk' or Lestor, now they are 'polis

I was upset about the one at the very end of series four for ages - he appeared on the credits for series five and I annoyed dh by sobbing loudly each time I saw him.

Also the young boy in series one, that one was awful too.

Am watching Deadwood now and enjoying it nearly as much.

Can also recommend Underbelly which is Australian and based on the Melbourne gang wars of the 1990s.

Excellent story and drama but no tottie as good as Bodie or Stringer for me!!

DH and I are hoping series 4 appears tomorrow.I was upset by Wallace getting killed,and bizarrely enough,Stringer Bell too.Although after watching Stringer get shot,we turned over to a film & there was 'Stringer' playing a religious investigator in a horror film.

Mmmm...Idris Elba (stringer) is gorgeous. He will be in a new programme next year on bbc1 called Luther , i think. Can't wait!! The Wire deffo had everything, great script, plot and way more totty than anything else on tv!!

I'm trying to track down 'The Corner',based on David Simon's book-apparently a film or series was made of it and several of the people documented in the book, actually appeared in the film.
