I can get to bed earlier. I came to it a bit late in the day and it's been keeping me up till 11.20 at nite - far too late.

I shall miss Jimmy.

oh, I am gutted I have sky plussed it and have only got 2 left. Omar just got shot to fuck, am so upset sad

FuriousGeorge Fri 11-Sep-09 22:41:46

Oh no-Omar is my favourite. We can't stay up late enough,so have bought the series on DVD.We are up to series 3 and 4 is en route to us.I'm gutted about Omar though. He had a very erudite turn of phrase and was the only American I've ever heard using the phrase 'pokey' for prison.

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Sorry to ruin about Omar for you george! Alas, tis always the way in The Wire, kill off any characters with redeeming features and let the ones that have not survive. Won't ruin anymore but I was upset about a character's death in 3,4 and 5......I just love dem gangstas obviouslywink.

At leat they didn't touch 'The Bunk' or Lestor, now they are 'polis grin

I was upset about the one at the very end of series four for ages - he appeared on the credits for series five and I annoyed dh by sobbing loudly each time I saw him.

Also the young boy in series one, that one was awful too.

Am watching Deadwood now and enjoying it nearly as much.

What is deadwood???

Yes, Wallace in series one and the person in series 4 hugely affected mesad

Clayhead Sat 12-Sep-09 20:51:18

Deadwood on Wikipedia

It's another HBO series, about the American West but not a traditional romantic portrayal.

PatTheHammer Sat 12-Sep-09 21:05:38

Oh, looks good, and lovejoy's in itgrin

I'll look out for it as need to fill a big Wire shaped hole!

Clayhead Sat 12-Sep-09 21:24:12

He's not very Lovejoy-ish in this!!

Can also recommend Underbelly which is Australian and based on the Melbourne gang wars of the 1990s.

Excellent story and drama but no tottie as good as Bodie or Stringer for me!!

FuriousGeorge Sun 13-Sep-09 14:48:18

Hey,don't worry about it!
DH and I are hoping series 4 appears tomorrow.I was upset by Wallace getting killed, and bizarrely enough,Stringer Bell too.Although after watching Stringer get shot,we turned over to a film & there was 'Stringer' playing a religious investigator in a horror film.

Raahh Sun 13-Sep-09 17:32:15

Mmmm...Idris Elba (stringer) is gorgeous. He will be in a new programme next year on bbc1 called Luther , i think. Can't wait!! The Wire deffo had everything, great script, plot and way more totty than anything else on tv!!

FuriousGeorge Mon 14-Sep-09 22:36:47

That looks good Raahh.I'll be looking out for that one.

Series 4 arrived today, but is at work with dh,who won't be home until after midnight.Bah!

I'm trying to track down 'The Corner',based on David Simon's book-apparently a film or series was made of it and several of the people documented in the book, actually appeared in the film.
