Wonderful isn't it

Ashes to ashes wasn't as dark and deep. I also felt setting it in London didn't quite work as Gene Hunt didn't travel well.

OOOH! you are so lucky. it was great, wasn't it?

O.k, so Ashes doesn't have Sam, and Keeley Hawews is a bit odd- but did get bad press, but tis still a really good watch. Gotta love the Gene-genie!

I agree,as a Manc, the Manchester setting seemed to work better. Or maybe was cos i kept location spotting!

......Ashes to Ashes was uber-camp nonsense. The plots were ludicrous and the explanations for the transplant to London were ultra flimsy.

...the whole series was just a vehicle for a few easy and obvious anachronistic jokes and an 80s soundtrack.

Needless to say I loved it.

I wanted ALL of Keeley Hawes clothes..and I havent even got nostalgia as an excuse as I wasnt old enough at the time to know about that stuff

....there was no excuse for Ms Hawes spending the entire first episode seemingly clad only in stockings.

But hey. Who needs excuses.

Life on Mars? Sort of like The Sweeney crossed with Lost, except not. That should explain it to you nicely .

Couldn't get into Ashes to Ashes, but will probably pick it up on DVD sometime when someone is doing a special offer.

My fil was an inspector and on the murder squad in the 70s and says other than the time travelling it's very realistic!

I'm reading this thread squinting through my fingers because I'm terrified of seeing spoilers.

We've just got it on DVD and I've seen 3 episodes so far and I love it. And am developing a huge crush on John Simm I think John Simm is a really good actor.

More acting talent on display in State of Play, welliemum. And (much younger) in The Lakes. And in Season 3 of Doctor Who, if you unaccountably missed it (ah, what a John Simm-tastic year 2007 was...)
