As a springer owner I am watching in horror.

The cavalier spaniels are very upsetting. I feel awful that I wanted one.

That pekignese that had to sit on an ice pack at crufts! ANd the fact that BA won't fly them, or pugs or bulldogs!

The dog on the ice pack was awful and people breeding from sick dogs. They should be banned from ever having dogs.

I've ranted about this for years.

I always wanted a Chihuahua until I learned that the majority of Chihuahua pups are born by section because they are bred to have enormous heads and tiny bodies.

Found much of the programme sickening. That Kennel Club president (or whatever) was a bit of a gormless grinning idiot wasn't he.

extremely shocking show. it is all down to vanity of the breeders. the amount of denial to justify what they are doing to dogs is amazing.

i think i will be sticking to a mutt when i get a dog.

I could not believe the extent of eugenics within the dog breeding community.

We'll be getting a Heinz 57 - hopefully something that wont have some horrible neurological condition or be able to hold itself up by its back legs. Might not be up to some poncy breed standard but I can live with that.

Yes it is important to stress there are good breeders. Our dog comes from excellent pedigree stock but he comes from a working background and not a show dog and there is a difference. Springers do have problems with their legs when they are older.

That is very interesting about boosters. Will mention that to DP.

but surely they should not be breeding dogs with weak hearts anyway?

It was on the other night also. But i couldnt hear it due to a 2 year old performing a dance show for us!
How sad. I have a cavalier spaniel, and im terrified after hearing all that. I'm just looking at her strutting around at the moment hoping i'm lucky.
She isnt KC registered and was rescued from a garage in ireland, she was covered in oil and the owners didnt want her. I got her at 12 weeks, but the man who rescued her had her for 3 before that, but he was elderly and couldnt cope with a pup, but couldnt leave her in the garage.

Some people are sick!
