I used to watch the Tv, meet my friends, have a life before I discovered MN. We have cable so can't get Sky PLus. Why is it so fantastic?

You can record at the touch of a button (literally). You can watch and record 2 things at once, or record 2 things. You can set it to record whole series so that you don't miss one in the middle. My name really ought to be IloveSky+

sky plus is a gift from the heavens brought down to earth by the great saviour of sky to spread joy to all earthly mortals. Was there life before sky plus or just a white abyss of nothingness?

I have ordinary SKY, as where I live the reception of terrestrial channels is bad and we have no cable TV, so it is a necessity if you want to watch TV. However I subscribe to the 'Family Package' at £15.99 a month. This gives me over 100 channels, including Sky, Hallmark, Living, Paramount, and all of the usuals, and a couple of the film channels. I am just glad that it has a child lock on it as after say 11pm I blush if I have say Living or Men and Motors on....explicit sex is shown and I really do not think that it is right on a 'Family Package'. Now, call me a party pooper but I get enough in the way of channels, all the UK ones, and the Discovery and Health ones as well, in fact I think there is too much so if I had SKY+, and they keep offerring me special deals to upgrade, would I not just spend more time deciding what 'rubbish' not to watch?

Sorry said I would be a party pooper...but how do you choose from so much?

You mean you have SKY and you have not seen it?
Sexcetera...on Living
Well Men and Motors speaks for its self....
Don't forget the live phone in stations either wher you have naked females receiving text messages asking them to do naughties for the gratification of the obviously male audience.....
Do you want the channel numbers Daddy Cool???????

sounds fantastic bunglie! I know the channels but I wasn't aware of the post 11pm content. I'm not allowed to watch that stuff anyway. Colleague of mine got caught the other day watching the ten minute free view on the really dirty channels. It was really funny, his DW is really straight laced.

But I do not watch all the channels now....If I want to record something then I do, but I only record if I am out, I can get different channels in different rooms so I can record one channel and watch another, so why do I need SKY+?
Do you not find some of the channels in the evening offensive, and I promise I do only have the family Package and just checked that is over 150 channels....why do I want to record more and I quite often do not have time to watch those programmes I have already recorded.
I think it is a personal thing, but £15.99 a month and the cost of a TV lisence is quite enough in my opinion, but then I do not have children who want to watch all the childrens channels that I get, maybe it would have been useful for when I had the children, but to be honest I would rather sit on the beach than watch TV. Sorry!!

We got Sky PLus about 6 months ago. Think we paid £200 for the box and installation but a friend just got a £99 deal fron Sky.

The other great thing is you can series link so you never forget to record something you want.

its brilliant - I watch LESS telly now (or it feels like it) as we only ever watch things we really want to watch.

Also if you Sky + something and start watching it 5 or 10 minutes after its actually started, you can fast forward through the ads, brilliant.
