Ra ra ra!
That advert for the burger that you put in the microwave and your date suddenly goes from being 'up tight and frigid' to 'up for it and semi-naked' (the only 2 types of woman in the world - clearly)
Ra ra ra!
The shreddies one. All grannies knitting - woman power - but it is up to a man to be quality control (and naturally one of the grannies fancies him...)
Ra ra ra!

Oh god we could go on all day.

What advert is a 'good advert'?

(excepting nspcc/ drink driving etc that are actually important)

But while most ads just pass me by as just generally rubbish...these ones, however, make me react...negatively.

Should have read that before posting - please mentally delete the 'however' as it is superfluous. Thanks.

That is because cravendale advert does not stereotype/objectify women. Just cows

I like the ad for Berocca with the people on the treadmills.

That microwave/burger ad effectively compares a woman to a piece of meat - I rant every time I see it. It's offensive and sexist, and they obiously only want men to buy their products.

Don't forget the other side of the coin. Just About Any Washing Powder Ad You Care To Name, Ever: bloke tries to do the washing and makes a mess of it (pours powder on the floor while turning box upside down to read the instructions, etc.) Because clearly men are incompetent and thick and it's acceptable to laugh at them for not being able to do housework.

Yep.
On par with "Women, don't expect any help on a Thursday because that is when a shitty mans mag comes out and we all know you can't hammer in a nail for love nor money with your dainty painted nails and lack of strength"

Ooh yes, and any cleaning product makes it so easy to do that a man can do it AND can finish in time to watch the footie!

I tell you my pet hate about adverts

the slimming ones inc special K ,adois and weight watchers

They are all targeted at women telling them what shape they should be. No obese man tucking into some special k or his friends and family discussing his weight

The worse one I think is the adois one though as it has a small girl of abput 8 wiggling her bum in the mirror and shouting adois

The Cabury ones really get on my nerves too, jumpingbeans. The truck one is worse than the gorilla one!

and theres the 'mum's night off bucket'(kfc)advert, which implies that it is a womans job to cook, and that men cant cook.

i think these advertisers know exactly what theyre doing.they make adverts as offensive as possible so they will get complained about and thus mentioned in the press and discussed on t'internet, which means more free advertising for the product in question.

The constipation pill ones always make me laugh

Report
Izzybel · 25/04/2008 16:25

If you had constipation, would you go out for coffee with your friends and chat about it? Erm... no!

Report
skeletonbones · 25/04/2008 16:25

That one for immac or the like where the woman extolls the virtues of immac becasue shaving leaves stubble 'stubble is for MEN!!' she says is a shocked and disgusted voice.
Because obviously womens body hair is so disgusting even if you shave you are still a big butch trucker as you might have GASP a bit of hair still visible by microscope.

The always seem to put those constipation ones on when i am eating my tea, mmmmmm nice

The Bazuka ad really annoys me. Those kids doing karate, or whatever it is they are doing. God, I watch too much TV! [Need to get out more emoticon]

I HATE that bloody dairylea one, the one where the obnoxious child announces 'mum, I'm hungry' in a horrible whiney voice and then of course it's mums job to immediately satisfy his hunger and what better than the pile of crap that is dairylea dunker-cheese straw-nachos whatever they ares. Grrrrrrrr.....anyone else find this ad so annoying?
