Has anyone watched this?
Ive just downloaded it, i am only a few minutes in but i cannot believe Russias change in domestic violence laws (its now ok to beat your wife) has not received more coverage.

The whole thing was horrifying. Particularly the indifference of society at large. And the woman that wrote the book; words fail me.

Yes it was horrifying, the woman whose husband told her not to say how many times she had been hit.

Thing is, it may have been against the law to beat your wife but it sure as hell wasn't enforced or disappoved of. There's a proverb that says "If he beats you, it means he loves you" and boy do people believe in it. So in a way, the change in that law simply reflects the general attitudes of the society.

By the way, I am not excusing or justifying this law in any way. My growing up was fucked up by this attitude, I just thought that I would provide you with some background data/ context.
