Watching it now. Very sad that relationship with the dealer. I'm a bit confused why the fire service come out to revive the people rather than an ambulance?

Fire departments/trucks handle a fair amount of medical emergency services. Things that aren't generally expected to need transport to a hospital.

purpleme12 same in most countries fire services are also paramedics so they go out to emergencies like this when there may not be an ambulance available or hospital may not be needed.

Found it all so depressing especially since the majority featured got addicted through prescription drugs. The doctors described are so negligent writing prescription after prescription for strong painkillers and then once they think someone may be addicted cutting the supply and throwing them out to the mercy of the dealers. The whole town just looked so bleak and depressing. Love how Louis seems to manage to gain their trust and get so much from them

I hope the 'tri-state' win the law suit against the drugs companies. It's a fudge though as GPs/Drs should be well aware of the addictive nature of these drugs. There is a huge problem globally regarding prescriptive painkillers, this state and town was the WCS. What a wonderful service the fire service was doing. All non judgemental and tragically sad that such lives were ruined including the families and the community.

Great viewing in that it does let you, the viewer, watch and learn. I wish all those who were involved nothing but the best.

The use of the fire brigade is because it's a free emergency service.
All firemen have basic first aid training because people who don't have insurance can't afford to ring an ambulance. Absolutely disgraceful. The first thing you're asked when in an ambulance and stable is for your insurance details, if you don't have them, they can legally kick you out

I had oxycodone given to me when I broke my back while living in the US. No one actually asked if I was in any pain. It wasn't, surprisingly, that painful at all. When I went back for a check up the doctor offered me more. Despite me saying I wasn't in pain. I didn't take them the second time because I was off my chops when I took them the first time and hated the feeling.

They were so strong and were being handed to me easier than the 2 paracetamol I got given in the UK for pain relief after giving birth.

I just finished watching it. It was so sad.

The pharmaceutical companies have so much to answer for...and the doctors that went along with their pressure. It's hard to see a future for any of them

Next week's is about a different subject, sex trafficking, i think so would imagine it'll be about different people.

I hope that Social Services are aware of those within the program, the shooting up beside a travel cot really shocked me. Can't help but hope that it was old or there for something other than a baby!

The relationship with the drug dealer boyfriend/girlfriend was disturbing to say the least, she seemed like a genuine person who had just taken in with the wrong crowd and been manipulated into this life of reliance :(

I watched it and it was harrowing. I can't find the thread which recommended (can't remember exactly as found it on Netflix last night when I couldn't sleep) Heroin States.

The woman fire chief and, I think, Mickey from Louis' programme were featured. Mickey was the man who was showing newcomers down by the river bank and giving them supplies. Their relationship was quite amazing. Wonderful woman. Really recommend this.
