Sky vs. Virgin Customer Service

Nothing to do with the whole Sky One thing but I would like to know what people's experiences of both Sky and Virgin (ntl, telewest or whatever it is) Currently with Virgin but have had no end of problems wth our broadband. Finally got an engineer out who recomended we call to book an appointment to have an installation engineer move the modem so it no longer has to be a wireless connection. Anyway tried calling today and after 2 hours of being put on hold and passed round 6 people in Indian call centres and three people in the UK I was told I had to be put through the customer services and when they did I got a recorded message telling me they were shut and then it just hung up. I am so mad with the whole debacle and am sorely tempted to switch to Sky. Price wise it seems fairly comparable its just we won't be able to have as fast a broadband service but apparently we will in about 6 months. Any advice would be great!!

I guess that the Virginmedia takeover is very recent, so it is possibly too early to really see what Virgin will do vis a vis customer service. Certainly Telewest customer service was nonexistant.

I've had a few issues with Sky in terms of getting hold of them by phone, but if you call in office hours you seem to get a Brit - call out of hours and you get a call centre. But miles better than Telewest. I'm looking at getting Sky Broadband as I'm paying £35 a month to Virgin for bandwidth that seems to be getting slower by the day....

The complete oppsoite her, was with sky broadband and was the worst isp I have ever had! We got to go all around the world in call centres with very poor english and after 4 months of awful customer service and a very slow internet we gave up.
Went to ntl now virgin media and the broadband sill isn't great so will probably go back to AOL

We were with Sky for AGES - but switched to NTL in October 2005......yes customer service can be hard to get hold of at times (although as has been mentioned the Virgin takeover is still very recent so it will be interesting to see what happens with it). BUT I wouldn't go back to sky if you paid me - found then slow, unhelpful and a right royal PITA after we left - it took 13 MONTHS of contacting them and putting the phone down on them to stop them constantly calling me and asking me to come back - and some months we had several calls a month !
