Rich Brother, Poor Brother

Anyone watching?

I'm pretty shocked at how immature the younger (poor) brother, David is! Shock the way he rabbitted on and on about that boat like even my 7 year old knows not to do now! He's a very bitter man. Why on earth has he been funded to the tune of £100k and have nothin to show for it yet somehow it is his brother's (the funder's) fault? Confused

Am flicking between this and the Live debate on ITV. But agree that the younger brother is acting like a young child about the boat!

I hope they work it out as they seem to genuinely love and like each other, deep down at least. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a connection with their siblings so I hope they don't waste this opportunity.

Why is Ivan buying into this crap that he is to blame for his brother's situation in life? Confused

He even questioned if him introducing David to his friends in the gay scene was to blame for him not finishing his mechanic course and not having a successful business and family. Surely if it was the scene and friends that were to blame then Ivan wouldnt have become succesful either?

It would be nice if they could rekindle a relationship but i have to say i would find David very hard to have a relationship with.

It's amazing how differently people see things. I think David could be a bit irritating but I think Ivan is unpleasant and insufferably smug.

I think they both seemed so convinced of their own superiority.

It was a shame that they couldn't seem to find a way of maintaining their relationship, they both seemed to care.

Watching this now.

What sticks out is Ivan saying he's always had a patchy relationship with the parents and how as a teenager he did paper rounds and worked in a supermarket while David did not do much. And David saying he was bought his new jacket by his mum to go to a book launch. Very telling family dynamic there.

Spoilt little David is still being spoilt so never grew up, and now it's Ivan's fault for making him feel poor and not buying him a boat FFS.

Yes morse it was very obvious which had me scratching my head really because surely it was obvious to the family too? Families are odd in what they can justify to themselves though.

You are right, it wouldn't be obvious to the mother, and I think Ivan is just a bit guilt-ridden and if it is obvious to him, he probably wouldn't bring it out on TV and risk more bad blood.

I think everyone is being a bit too hard on the younger poor brother, especially regarding the boat. He made the point that to him a promise was made that was not fulfilled, and he wanted his rich brother to admit this so kept on saying yes or no. Again this is probably an issue of poor communication on both sides which unfortunately seems to be the cause of most disputes in life. The worst part for me was the rich brother not staying with his poor brother in his van, that was incredibly rude and disrespectful, and showed his inability to adapt himself socially. Not only this but most of the episode he came across as aloof, condescending and unable to do what his brother had done which is live with next to nothing but able to fit into any sort of society. None of which are conducive to creating brotherly affection. I sincerely hope they resolve their differences though and learn from each other Smile x
